Sterile Ophthalmic Solution
1. COMPOSITION
Each mL contains:
• Polyvinyl Alcohol 14 mg (1.4% w/v).
• Povidone 6 mg (0.6% w/v).
• Sodium Perborate 2.8 mg (0.28% w/v).
• Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1 mg (0.01% w/v).
• Excipients: As applicable.
• Sterile aqueous vehicle q.s.
2. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Sterile, clear ophthalmic solution for topical ocular administration.
3. THERAPEUTIC CLASS
Ophthalmic Lubricant – Artificial Tear Preparation.
4. INDICATIONS
Polyvinyl Alcohol and Povidone Eye Drops are indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with ocular surface dryness and irritation, including:
• Dryness and discomfort of the eyes.
• Burning and irritation associated with dry eyes.
• Ocular discomfort associated with environmental conditions such as wind, dust and prolonged visual tasks.
• Temporary relief of symptoms associated with an unstable or deficient tear film.
Polyvinyl Alcohol and Povidone act as lubricating and wetting agents to help moisturize and protect the ocular surface. Sodium Perborate and Benzalkonium Chloride are included as preservative components of the formulation.
5. CONTRAINDICATIONS
• Hypersensitivity to polyvinyl alcohol, povidone, sodium perborate, benzalkonium chloride, or any component of the formulation.
6. DRUG INTERACTIONS
• No significant drug interactions are expected when used topically as directed.
• Other ophthalmic preparations should generally be administered with an appropriate interval between applications.
The treating physician or pharmacist should review concomitant ophthalmic medicines before use.
7. ADMINISTRATION
For topical ophthalmic use only. Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) according to the approved product information. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or surrounding surfaces. If using other ophthalmic preparations, separate administration by an appropriate interval.
8. STORAGE
Store according to the storage conditions stated on the approved product label. Protect from excessive heat, moisture and light. Keep the container tightly closed when not in use. Do not use if the solution shows visible particles, precipitation or unexpected discoloration.
