COMPOSITION
Each vial contains:
Piperacillin Sodium equivalent to Piperacillin ............... 4 g
Tazobactam Sodium equivalent to Tazobactam ............... 0.5 g
Excipients: As applicable.

THERAPEUTIC CLASS
Extended-Spectrum Penicillin + β-Lactamase Inhibitor
INDICATIONS
Piperacillin + Tazobactam Injection is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.
It may be used in the treatment of:
• Lower respiratory tract infections
• Complicated urinary tract infections
• Intra-abdominal infections
• Complicated skin and soft-tissue infections
• Severe systemic bacterial infections
• Septicemia caused by susceptible organisms
• Other serious infections caused by susceptible bacteria
Treatment should be guided by the susceptibility of the causative organism and applicable antimicrobial guidelines.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Piperacillin + Tazobactam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to piperacillin, tazobactam, other penicillins, cephalosporins or any component of the formulation.
It should not be used in patients with a history of severe immediate hypersensitivity reactions to β-lactam antibiotics.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Particular caution may be required with concomitant use of:
• Other β-lactam antibiotics
• Anticoagulants
• Methotrexate
• Vecuronium and other neuromuscular blocking agents
• Other medicines affecting renal function
The treating physician should review all concomitant medications before administration.
ADMINISTRATION
Piperacillin + Tazobactam Injection is intended for intravenous administration.
The contents of the vial should be reconstituted with a suitable compatible diluent under appropriate aseptic conditions.
The reconstituted solution should be further diluted as required and administered by a qualified healthcare professional according to the approved product information and institutional protocol.
