Vancomycin Hydrochloride equivalent to Vancomycin 500 mg

Vancomycin Hydrochloride equivalent to Vancomycin 1000 mg
Excipients: As applicable.

THERAPEUTIC CLASS
Glycopeptide Antibiotic
INDICATIONS
Vancomycin is indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive microorganisms, particularly infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
It may be used in the treatment of:
• Septicemia and bloodstream infections
• Infective endocarditis
• Pneumonia
• Bone and joint infections
• Complicated skin and soft-tissue infections
• Other serious Gram-positive bacterial infections when vancomycin is considered appropriate
Treatment should be guided by the susceptibility of the causative organism and applicable antimicrobial guidelines.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Vancomycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vancomycin or any component of the formulation.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Inform the healthcare professional if the patient is receiving medicines that may affect renal or auditory function.
Particular caution may be required with concomitant use of other potentially:
• Nephrotoxic medicines
• Ototoxic medicines
The treating physician should review all concomitant medications before initiating therapy.
RECONSTITUTION AND ADMINISTRATION
The contents of the vial should be reconstituted using a suitable compatible diluent under appropriate aseptic conditions.
The reconstituted solution should be further diluted as required and administered by intravenous infusion according to the approved product information and institutional protocol.
Do not use the product if the reconstituted solution shows unexpected discoloration, precipitation or particulate matter.

STORAGE
Store the unopened vial according to the storage conditions stated on the approved product label.
