Each vial contains:

Streptomycin Sulphate equivalent to Streptomycin ............... 750 mg

or

Streptomycin Sulphate equivalent to Streptomycin ............... 1 g

Excipients: As applicable.

Sterile, white to off-white powder for solution for intramuscular administration.

  1. THERAPEUTIC CLASS

Aminoglycoside Antibiotic

  1. INDICATIONS

Streptomycin Injection is indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.

It may be used in the treatment of:

• Tuberculosis, in combination with other appropriate anti-tuberculosis medicines
• Certain serious Gram-negative bacterial infections
• Brucellosis
• Plague
• Tularemia
• Other infections caused by susceptible organisms when clinically appropriate

Treatment should be guided by the susceptibility of the causative organism and applicable antimicrobial guidelines.

  1. CONTRAINDICATIONS

Streptomycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to streptomycin or other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or to any component of the formulation.
