TINIDAZOLE 500 mg TABLETS

1. COMPOSITION

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Tinidazole — 500 mg

  • Pharmaceutical excipients — q.s.

2. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM

Film-Coated Tablet.

3. THERAPEUTIC CLASS

Nitroimidazole Antimicrobial / Antiprotozoal Agent.

4. INDICATIONS

Tinidazole is indicated for the treatment of susceptible infections, including:

  • Trichomoniasis.

  • Bacterial vaginosis.

  • Giardiasis.

  • Amoebiasis.

  • Anaerobic bacterial infections.

  • Other susceptible infections as prescribed by a physician.

5. CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Hypersensitivity to Tinidazole, other nitroimidazole derivatives, or any component of the formulation.

  • Blood dyscrasias or history of significant blood disorders unless specifically advised by a physician.

  • Organic neurological disorders.

  • Pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester, unless specifically prescribed.

  • Breastfeeding during treatment and for the recommended period after treatment should be avoided as advised by a physician.

6. DRUG INTERACTIONS

Tinidazole may interact with:

  • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol and products containing alcohol during treatment and for at least 72 hours after the last dose.

  • Warfarin and other oral anticoagulants — may increase anticoagulant effects.

  • Lithium — may increase lithium concentrations.

  • Phenytoin and other enzyme-inducing medicines may affect tinidazole concentrations.

  • Cyclosporine or tacrolimus — monitoring may be required.

7. ADMINISTRATION

Take orally with food and sufficient water, or as directed by a physician.

The dosage and duration depend on the type and severity of infection.

  • Complete the prescribed course of treatment.

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages during treatment and for at least 72 hours after the last dose.

  • Do not discontinue treatment prematurely unless advised by a physician.

8. STORAGE

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
Keep the tablets in the original package.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date.
