SILDENAFIL CITRATE TABLETS

1. COMPOSITION

Each tablet contains:

  • Sildenafil Citrate equivalent to Sildenafil — 20 mg / 25 mg / 50 mg / 100 mg

  • Pharmaceutical excipients — q.s.

2. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM

Film-Coated Tablet.

3. THERAPEUTIC CLASS

Phosphodiesterase Type-5 (PDE5) Inhibitor.

4. INDICATIONS

  • Treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men.

  • Sexual stimulation is required for sildenafil to produce an effect.

5. CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Hypersensitivity to Sildenafil or any component of the formulation.

  • Concomitant use with organic nitrates or nitric oxide donors, including recreational nitrates (“poppers”).

  • Concomitant use with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat.

  • Patients for whom sexual activity is inadvisable because of their cardiovascular condition.

  • Use in severe hepatic or renal impairment only under medical supervision.

6. DRUG INTERACTIONS

Sildenafil may interact with:

  • Nitrates/nitric oxide donors: Contraindicated due to the risk of significant hypotension.

  • Alpha-blockers and antihypertensive medicines: May increase the risk of hypotension.

  • Potent CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ritonavir, ketoconazole and itraconazole may increase sildenafil exposure.

  • Other PDE5 inhibitors or erectile dysfunction treatments: concomitant use is not recommended.

  • Excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of dizziness and hypotension.

7. ADMINISTRATION

Swallow the tablet whole with water, or as directed by a physician.

For erectile dysfunction, sildenafil is generally taken approximately 1 hour before anticipated sexual activity.

  • The usual starting dose is 50 mg; the dose may be adjusted to 25 mg or 100 mg according to efficacy and tolerability, as prescribed.

  • Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours.

  • Sexual stimulation is required for the medicine to be effective.

  • May be taken with or without food; a high-fat meal may delay the onset of action.

  • Use the 20 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg or 100 mg strength only as prescribed.

8. STORAGE

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture, excessive heat and direct sunlight.
Keep the tablets in the original package until use.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date.
